Howard
and Kirsten had an earlier morning to catch
a 7:25AM flight to London. Mom, Dad, and Robin
were on a 4PM flight to Paris and were able
to spend the morning exploring more of Ljubljana.
Howard and Kirsten arrived in London without
incident, but then spent over 2 1/2 hours
sitting still on the plane at the gate. Apparently,
the inbound plane had been stuck by lightning,
so it needed to be fully checked before departure.
We were boarded about 30 minutes late just
in case it was a quick fix so that we could
depart as soon as any repairs were made. Unfortunately,
the wait to depart after boarding was over
2 hours as we missed the window for our trans-Atlantic
flight and had to be worked into a new one.
Eventually, we departed and arrived in Cincinnati
over 2 hours late.
|
To top it off, our
bags never made it onto the plane!! We waited
until all the bags from our flight circled
the carousel at customs before an announcement
was made that all bags were off-loaded. We
proceeded through customs with just our back-packs
and headed to baggage claim and the Delta
baggage office.
There we were told that our bags never made
it from our first flight onto our second.
They hoped that the bags were still in London
and could be placed onto the same flight the
next day. Unfortunately, this didn't happen.
Our bags didn't make it to us until late on
Sunday night, about 54 hours after we landed.
Good thing we were at home and had other clothes
to wear!
|
| Now we're back on
Eastern time and catching up on work and everything
else from being away. Soon it will be time
to plan our next adventure! |
