Long
haul travel is an art form. You
need to understand that it takes an enormous physical effort to
complete successfully. You need to calculate and determine what you
want to be able to do when you arrive. It's complicated and draining.
2 hours to Dallas; 4 hours to San Francisco; 15 hours o Hong Kong and
finally 2 hours to Hanoi. Our connections had plenty of time and we
made each one of them. Our only concern was a stiff headwind that we
fought across the Pacific Ocean. We were luckier than Mom, Dad and
Robin - they arrived in Vancouver and had to remove cargo and de-ice in
order to takeoff on a snow covered runway. They missed the connection
to Hanoi and were forced to fly down to Saigon in order to fly up to
Hanoi. They arrived around 11 PM local time - only 12 hours late.
Although we arrived and had half a day in Hanoi, we really hit the wall
after lunch and spent most of the afternoon asleep. We did achieve our
goal - we were ready to go the next morning. |
