| We saved
our favorite snorkel for our last snorkel
of the trip. Waterlemon Cay is our favorite
because of the diverse corals and the abundance
of life we see there. THe hike along the
bay is nice too!
It's always an early start
for this one We want to be there before
it gets too crowded. That means we left
the villa at 8 and were in the water about
an hour later. There is a swim to get into
the protected area and today we battled
some wind and current to get there. Right
away we saw a small stingray gliding along
the bottom. We decided to tackle the more
challenging windward side first. There was
good activity and the visibility was pretty
good. As we got out to the tip of the cay,
the corals were more abundant and we ran
across a school of tarpon. Pretty impressive
fish.
Rounding to the leeward
side, we saw a porcupine fish and swam through
lots of tiny jellyfish. We made our way
down the side and Kirsten found a spotted
moray - very cool. We rested for a few minutes
on the small beach and resolved to look
away from the cay. We found lots of sea
stars and saw another stingray.
The afternoon was routine
and we finished with a swim at Hawkesnest.
We think there was a nurse shark in the
area but we were enthralled with the pelicans
hurtling themselves into the water for fish.
