| Day 6: November 5 -
Fraser Island to 1770 |

The
destination for today is the town of 1770, approximately
a 4 hour journey up the coast. We caught the 7:40A
ferry back to Hervey Bay and were on our way. Since
it was mostly a travel day nothing much to report.
We stopped at Bundaberg along the way and shopped for an hour. The highlight for Howard was stopping at the post office to pick up stamps. The Post was unique because
you can do all manner of things there from paying utility bills to getting a new home phone. Grant says that this grew out of a need to have the post in rural areas and
the manager of the general store usually took the job.
After a picnic lunch at the botanical gardens we were back on the road. About 15km from 1770, we saw 2 kangaroos (skippies) in the bush. Amanda turned us around and we
all snapped some pictures.
Dinner came after we went to a headland point overlooking the ocean. It would have been beautiful except for the cloud cover. |
