We were determined to get some good snorkeling in early today. By 8am we had chosen a spot at Trunk Bay and were getting ready to
hit the water. It was eerie because we were the only ones there! We even beat the lifeguard.
We started along the "trail" and watched
as parrotfish, grunts, groupers, tangs, and schools
of sergeant majors feed on the coral. This is clearly
an area that was decimated and is coming back. We
snorkeled around the entire island in the bay. It
was a little tough going but lots of fun. At one
point we were surrounded by bait fish. We didn't
see the tarpons though.
Lots of needlefish swarmed at the surface and at the end we watched a small stingray skim along the wavy sandy bottom.
Our afternoon was taken up with more kayaking and relaxing in the pool. We went up the North Shore Road to get some good pictures of sunset.
Dinner: Margarita Phil's; Howard - Shrimp Enchiladas,
Kirsten - Shrimp Fajitas, Dessert - Chocolate Lava
