We decided to get up early and head north to Waterlemon Cay for some snorkeling. We drove the winding road (picking up fresh croissants along
the way) down to the beach. We parked and headed out along the trail which winds along the shore of the bay. The Leinster Bay trail is open and exposed but very pretty.
We reached the beach where a sign warns of sea turtle nesting. We continued past the beach for another 10-15 minutes and found a nice outcropping of rocks which we
designated as our home base. We got right into the water, scooting on our buts because it is a rocky entrance. After a swim over to the island we saw lots of marine
life. We were alternately part of the bait fish swarms and saw large parrotfish, sea bass, yellow tail jacks, sargent majors and lots of grunts. We even almost bumped
into some pelicans who were feasting on the smaller fish.
After our swim back to home base, we dried out on some rocks. As we gazed out over the water, we saw a huge feeding frenzy with jacks jumping everywhere. When that
calmed down, we noticed a small octopus just a few feet away. Waterlemon is a great site that we will visit again.
Dinner: Asolare; Howard - Salmon with micro green
salad, eggplant and rice, Kirsten - Chicken in curry
with udon noodles, Dessert - Apple strudel with
vanilla ice cream. We should go back! |
